Getting ready head down to the Prince Theater to see Rogue One?
Well here is a short list of things you will need to know before you grab your popcorn and enter the theater!
There Will Be NO Yellow Scrolling Text
For the franchise’s first stand-alone film (friendly reminder that the second stand-alone will be a solo Han Solo film), Lucasfilm is breaking with tradition and not opening with the classic scrolling text. But don’t worry, there will be enough nostalgia-filled moments for Star Wars fans to geek out about.
This Is a Father/Daughter Story
One plot element that Star Wars seems to never break away from is the concept of parental issues — more specifically, daddy issues. Anyway you slice it, this film’s strongest relationship is the one between Jyn (Felicity Jones) and Galen Erso (Mads Mikkelsen).
This Is a Heist Film
The Rebels in Rogue One have a very clear mission. Sure, the mission takes place in a far-off galaxy with super cool spaceships and requires the assistance of smart-mouth droid, but the core of the film is completing the most important heist the Rebellion has ever set out to accomplish.
Some may say that Rogue One is Ocean’s Eleven in space, but these are Rebels with a cause (WOW, two movie references in one sentence!)
Darth Vader is BACK (Kinda)
At this point in the Star Wars saga, Darth Vader has never gone away, but for fans this will be the first time seeing Lord Vader since Return of the Jedi in 1983 or (cause it still counts) Revenge of the Sith in 2005.
The Sequel is A NEW HOPE
Even before this film hit theaters, people were already wondering when the sequel will be coming out. Lucasfilm CEO Kathleen Kennedy made it clear back in November that there is will be NO Rogue Two! But there is no need for a sequel because this little known film called A New Hope follows the events of Rogue One perfectly!
Star Wars fun fact: if you go back and watch The Empire Strikes Back, you can spot Rogue Two flown by rebel pilot Zev Senesca.
ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY is now playing at the Prince Theater in Center City!
