The four new levels of badges create flexibility and introduce exciting new benefits that serve to expand the festival experience over a wide range of audiences. This program serves as an extension of the annual Philadelphia Film Festival’s Masters of Cinema selection with the purpose to educate the audience on the collaboration of multiple art forms, while celebrating the introductory year of the University of the Arts’ School of Film in 2012.

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. March 19, 2012- Philadelphia’s only film festival dedicated to music is coming soon to theaters near you! WXPN, the nationally-recognized leader in Triple A (Adult Album Alternative) music and noncommercial radio service of the University of Pennsylvania, and the Philadelphia Film Society today announced that the XPN Music Film Festival produced by the Philadelphia Film Society will run from Thursday, April 26 to Sunday, April 29. The initial slate features more than 10 films including rockumentaries, biopics about musicians and movies that are defined by great soundtracks.

FUNDING WILL CONTRIBUTE TO ON-GOING ROXY THEATER RENOVATIONS;  VENUE DUE TO OPEN IN SPRING 2013 

(PHILADELPHIA, PA) February 21, 2012 – The Philadelphia Film Society (PFS) will launch a Kickstarter campaign to support a necessary revitalization of the historic Roxy theater, the last remaining movie house in Rittenhouse Square.  The campaign will begin on Friday, February 22 and end on Friday, March 22, 2013. Contributions will aim to raise at least $40,000, which will fund the immediate renovation of the theaters, including upgraded seating, wall treatments, and carpeting – all of which will allow for a Spring opening in early April.  Additional funding beyond this goal will be allocated towards the purchase of new, digital equipment, advancing the digital conversion of the venue.
