- Film Festival
Here at the Philadelphia Film Society, we are a small organization doing mighty things for the Philadelphia film community, and would couldn’t survive without a strong staff of talented, dedicated interns. This summer, we are thrilled to welcome five new interns into the PFS community. Read more about them below, and make sure to say hi when you see them at our screenings!
Rebecca Delp is currently in her senior year at Temple University where she is studying Film & Media Arts. In addition to her internship with the Philadelphia Film Society, during the summer she works as a counter girl at Uncle Oogies Pizza in South Philly. Because she is not busy enough over the summer break, Rebecca is also taking some classes at Temple. Her summer movie picks include X-Men First Class, Cowboys & Aliens but most importantly…the final installment of Harry Potter!
In a mad dash to find a job that she actually cares about and has a passion for, Eileen Sheehan searched for film offices and production companies in the Philly area and luckily stumbled upon the website for the Philadelphia Film Society. She pestered them for weeks until she finally met them for an interview and was chosen for their marketing internship. She is super excited to learn more about PFS and do something that actually related to what she studied in school! Her top five summer movies for 2011 are Bridesmaids, Super 8, Winnie the Pooh, Bad Teacher, and Cowboys and Aliens.
Julia Borgia was born and raised in the suburbs north of Philadelphia. She is a student at Drexel University studying Entertainment and Arts Management where she is the Production Manager of a student run open mic called Late Night Series- Philly. Julia is extremely excited to be working with the Philadelphia Film Society in coordinating volunteers for the 20th Annual Film Festival, especially after her own experience volunteering during the last year’s festival. Julia is sucker for chocolate and coffee and her favorite film is Amelie.
Brittany Bradford is an English major at Temple University. She heard about the Philadelphia Film Society from her friend, a previous intern. After returning from a semester in Rome, Brittany joined the Film Society as a Marketing/Outreach Intern in February of 2011. Her favorite part of working with PFS is having access to countless screenings, and she enjoys working with area universities to increase student involvement at events. She is very excited to work at her first Film Festival this October. Her favorite summer movies are E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial, Amelie and Little Miss Sunshine.
Alex Gibson is a film student at Temple University. She is beginning her senior year in the fall and is both nervous and excited to be graduating. She recently spent a semester abroad in Rome, where she became friends with fellow PFS intern Brittany Bradford, who told her about the internship at the Film Society. Now, Alex is the co-volunteer coordinator and loving it! Her favorite part of working with PFS is the access to sneak previews and special screenings and the opportunity to work with a wide range of people. She is incredibly excited to work on the Philadelphia Film Festival this summer and fall. In the mean time, Alex enjoys hanging out with her friends and family and, of course, watching awesome summer movies. Some of her favorites are Top Gun, Independence Day, Wet Hot American Summer, and I Know What You Did Last Summer.
