Here's my 75 words or less (give or take) about SENNA!

I never thought I’d love a documentary about a Racecar Driver...
Ayrton Senna was a legendary Brazilian, Formula 1 Motor Racing Champion. He wasn’t interested in the fame, money or politics that went along with the sport, just the physical act of getting behind the wheel and maneuvering through the track. He fought for the ethical treatment of the drivers and to this day remains a renowned figure within the racing world. If you’re in the mood for a fabulously put together doc about a man who followed his passions until the day he died, this is your doc.

My Two Cents in the Form of 75 Words or Less...

For me, the impact of Senna was definitely lessened by my lack of interest in F1 racing. Nonetheless, the film paints the portrait of a legendary driver whose enthusiasm and dedication to his sport was matched by his humility and love for his home country. It is impossible not to fall in love with him and feel inspired by his story. The documentary combines interviews with amazing archive footage to make this film incredible.

I simply was not that inspired. Granted, now I know the difference between Formula 1 and NASCAR; but by the way this doc has been heralded, I expected the Ayrton Senna story to provide a new way of looking at winning, losing, life and death - this is does not do.

There are a few misspellings of the name. It’s “Ayrton Senna” and not “Aryton Senna”. More could have been said, such as further information or background to the film. The first comment by Julia B puts it well; he wasn’t interested in fame, money and politics. He was an artist in the true sense. Though, is he being turned into a saint? Nonetheless, as Alex G says, he was a legend and, with amazing footage, it’s impossible not to fall in love with him. It’s surreal to see the Formula One legends of yore when they were real celebrities, such as legendary Brit Jackie Stewart, to whom Robbie Williams’ video for “Supreme” was a funny and amusing tribute to. For those who’ve seen the entertaining video, it’s inevitable you’ll hear the song in your head as certain scenes play on the screen. While this may be amusing, it wouldn’t be inappropriate to entertain yourself this way. After all, it would be the best music to accompany such a film.

The film, directed by Asif Kapadia, chronicles the career of Aryton Senna, arguably the best driver in Formula One history. This film is sure to attract racing enthusiasts and novices alike. Brad Schreiber reviewed the film for the Huffington Post, saying that "its complexity, irony and heart put it in a special class of film."
