Members of the Philadelphia Film Society packed into Ritz East yesterday evening to get a sneak preview of SAVAGES, the latest film from director Oliver Stone. This film will not be released to the public until later this week, but already seems to be stirring much attraction. There was not an empty seat in the theatre, and this film provoked the crowd to laugh, cover their eyes, and gasp all at the same time.
A lot has been written and reported in recent years about the growing drug cartel between America and Mexico.
Last Wednesday, the Philadelphia Film Society held a preview screening of Moonrise Kingdom, the ninth film of acclaimed director, Wes Anderson. The latest installment from the director that brought us The Royal Tennenbaums and Fantastic Mr. Fox,traces two committed youngsters, Sam and Suzy on their adventure to run awayfrom their misunderstood lives, so they can be hidden away from the rest of the world on the small, rocky Rhode Island beach cove they have named together, Moonrise Kingdom.

Yesterday evening, PFS held their first Happy Hour not related to a specific film screening. It was just a chance for our members, attendees and guests to meet, drink and chat (hopefully about movies, but not necessarily), in the hospitably relaxed beauty of Positano Coast. (Truly, one of my favorite restaurants in the City).
