PFF SpringFest – TULLY
CLOSING NIGHT: TULLY
JASON REITMAN | 2018 | USA | English | 94 MIN
Cast: Charlize Theron, Mackenzie Davis, Mark Duplass, Ron Livingston
From director Jason Reitman and screenwriter Diablo Cody (the team behind Juno and Young Adult), Tully is the story of Marlo (Charlize Theron), a mom trying desperately to hang on to her sanity while raising three young children, including a newborn. When Marlo’s brother (Mark Duplass) gifts her with a night nanny to care for the baby while Marlo sleeps, she’s reluctant to accept at first. But the thoughtful, enigmatic Tully (Mackenzie Davis) is nothing like Marlo expects. Through their intense connection, this millennial Mary Poppins forces Marlo to take a critical look at her life, including her relationship with her likable but unhelpful husband (Ron Livingston). With their trademark mix of genuine heart and acerbic wit, Reitman and Cody have given audiences a memorable and unusually honest portrayal of motherhood in all of its chaotic splendor.
Director Jason Reitman is scheduled to attend and participate in a Q&A after the screening.
