GAME ON | Back to the Arcade with Atari, TRON, and more! Presented by the PFS Young Friends and the Franklin Institute
Whether you got the high score on Mario, Mortal Kombat, or MegaMan, get back to video games’ roots at “Game On: Back to the Arcade”. Join the Philadelphia Film Society Young Friends and the Franklin Institute for an evening of 1980’s video game greatness, including a virtual reality demonstration, a chance to defend your Atari title, and a screening of 1982’s groundbreaking TRON.
Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) is a brilliant young video game engineer whose work is stolen by Dillinger, an executive at Flynn’s employer, mega-corp ENCOM. To find proof of theft, Flynn hacks into the system, but finds himself in over his head when he is transported into the digital world. There, with the help of programmers-turned-players Tron and Yori, Flynn must defeat his nemesis Sark and the power-hungry Master Control Program.
Haven’t had enough? Challenge yourself to achieve a high score on more than 100 playable games as you learn how the most beloved characters—from Sonic to the Sims—came to life, and check out the work of over 30 innovative game designers at the Franklin Institute’s Game Masters exhibition. PFS Young Friends attending “Game On: Back to the Arcade” will receive two free tickets to Game Masters.
