NEXTMOVE DANCE PRESENTS
JESSICA LANG DANCE
“Jessica Lang has a knack for conceiving a complete universe in each dance — distinctive in its look, mood, sound and atmosphere.” – Los Angeles Times
“The aesthetics of Jessica Lang Dance is pure gorgeousness…” – Houston Press
April 5-9, 2017
Prince Theater | Main Stage
Reserved Seating: $20 to $60
A superstar on the rise two years ago when first presented in our series, local Philly talent Jessica Lang has realized all our expectations with recent commissions from The Kennedy Center and the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Her work is astoundingly beautiful and emotionally moving.
The program features all new work, including Thousand Yard Stare, a physically riveting tribute to veterans set to Beethoven’s String Quartet #15. The title refers to the blank and bewildered gaze of the shell-shocked soldier returning from war. The Los Angeles Times notes the “ballet is spare yet evocative and gorgeous throughout.”
Audiences will also experience Lang’s newest creation, a Philadelphia premiere, which is inspired by the colorful and visceral artwork of Georgia O’Keeffe.
Attend a Post-Performance Chat after every Thursday 7:30PM and Saturday 2PM show. Meet the company, ask questions, and get the scoop on the what’s and the why’s of the creative process.
