The Philadelphia Film Society Forward Fund:
Helping the Film Society Move Forward in the uncertain times of COVID-19
“It’s not about how hard you can hit.
It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.” – Rocky Balboa
With the creation of the Drive-In at the Navy Yard, the Philadelphia Film Society has excitedly welcomed back thousands of film lovers from all parts of our community for a socially-distanced, communal viewing experience featuring a diverse slate of new and classic film offerings, all from the safety of their own cars.
Mounting such a project while navigating through the continuing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic is an expensive and challenging proposition. It is, however, one that the Film Society’s staff and board are resolute in sustaining in an effort to move forward through the uncertain times ahead, continuing the good work of our mission to provide Philadelphians with opportunities to be inspired, educated, challenged and entertained through film.
That is why we have established the Forward Fund, designed to help the Film Society move forward through these uncertain times, and to have the necessary resources for the creation and innovation of new programming, as well as new ways of delivering and presenting that programming, and Film Society programming that has long been established and offered.
When you make a donation to the Forward Fund, you’ll be helping to sustain innovative programming platforms, such as the Drive-In at the Navy Yard or the upcoming hybrid Philadelphia Film Festival with most of its screenings available in-home through a state-of-the-art digital streaming platform, so that we can continue to bring you — and all Philadelphians — more curated classics and the latest in new studio releases in the weeks and months ahead.
