PFS Member Summer Sneak Peek – STEP UP REVOLUTION

With the Summer Movie Season officially upon us, the Philadelphia Film Society is working hard to make sure that members get a chance to see as many Blockbusters, Spectacles, and Genre Offerings as possible. As a result, in the coming weeks members will be seeing BATTLESHIP, ROCK OF AGES, and CHERNOBYL DIARIES all BEFORE they hit theaters. Another staple of the Summer Movie Season is the Guilty Pleasure… and it doesn’t get more guilty than STEP UP REVOLUTION!

Set in the blazing heat of Miami, STEP UP REVOLUTION follows Emily (Kathryn McCormick of “So You Think You Can Dance”) who arrives in town with aspirations of becoming a professional dancer and soon falls in love with Sean (Ryan Guzman in his film debut), a young man who leads a dance crew in elaborate, cutting-edge flash mobs, called “The Mob.” When a wealthy business man (Peter Gallagher of sex, lies, and videotape) threatens to develop the Mob’s historic neighborhood and displace thousands of people, Emily must band together with Sean and The Mob to turn their performance art into protest art, and risk losing their dreams to fight for a greater cause.

Will they fall in love? Yes. Will they save the day? Sure. But will they perform some sweet moves that will blow your friggan mind? ABSOLUTELY! The previous entry, Step Up 3D, was a big ‘ol mess, but it was a HOT MESS that featured some of the slickest post-Cameron 3D camera work by a director whose name doesn’t end in Scorsese.

Just one look at the trailer and you know what you’re in for:

Fun. Plain and simple. PFS members can look forward to (even if it’s secretly) seeing STEP UP REVOLUTION in 3D BEFORE it hits theaters July 27, 2012 at a future screening! Stay TUNED!
