The Philadelphia Film Society and the University of the Arts presents The Artist as a Filmmaker, a monthly film series highlighting world-renowned directors who transitioned their careers from visual artistry to film making. The program serves to expand the annual Philadelphia Film Festival's Masters of Cinema component, educating its audience on the collaboration of multiple art forms, while celebrating the introductory year of the University of the Arts’ School of Film in 2012.

Films includes:
Stranger than Paradise; Hunger; Matinee; The Future; Beginners; and Vertigo
