(Philadelphia, PA) – July 22, 2010 – The Philadelphia Film Society (PFS), Clay Studio, The Elfreth’s Alley Association and The Old City Civic Association have teamed up to present a series of Free outdoor screenings of major motion pictures.
Grab some popcorn and your lawn chair and gather in Flagpole Park this Thursday evening for a peek into the mind of comic genius and cinematic artist of the bizarre: Mel Brooks. Old City’s monthly film series titled: IN THE MIND OF THE ARTIST kicks off with classic horror comedy flick: Young Frankenstein.
Beginning at dusk:
July 29: YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN (including a screening of short films by local artist, Ryan Kelly and David Cushway).
August 26th: WALLACE & GROMIT (with a screening of claymation & puppetry shorts made by kids participating in The Clay Studio’s 2010 Clay Camp program).
September 23rd: THE ART OF THE STEAL (including a screening of short films by local artists).

This year, the Alamo Drafthouse and the Levi’s® brand have partnered to champion some of cinema’s most celebrated workers. “We Are All Workers” is the underlying theme of this year’s Rolling Roadshow, which will be brought live to movie lovers throughout the hazy summer nights of August.

Jackson Rathbone (Jasper Hale) star of Summit Entertainment’s upcoming release THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE, will introduce a FREE outdoor screening of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON (second film of the series) at The Piazza at Schmidts on Saturday, June 26 at 7:30PM. (Philadelphia, PA) - March18, 2010 – The Philadelphia Film Society (PFS) is proud to announce the line-up for the Philadelphia Film Festival Spring Preview, presented by Pennsylvania Hospital. This event,taking place from April 9 through April 11, will be held exclusively at the Prince Music Theater and will be free to the public, giving priority seating to PFS members.The Spring Preview will feature domestic and international films from both new filmmakers and renowned artists, including such high-profile films as No Crossover – The Trial of Allen Iverson, directed by Academy Award-nominee Steve James; The Joneses, a satirical film starring Demi Moore and David Duchovny as people posing as the perfect family in order to inspire their neighbors into expensive consumerist habits; I Am Love, a sophisticated and compelling Italian drama that deals with the complexity of love and relationships, starring Academy Award-winner TildaSwinton, and Harry Brown, a British crime thriller featuring a powerhouse performance by two-time Oscar winner Michael Caine.
