A CHRISTMAS STORY
BOB CLARK | USA, CANADA | 1983 | 93 MIN | PG | ENGLISH
Reminiscing on his childhood in 1940s Indiana, Ralphie Parker recounts the Christmas when all he wanted was a Red Ryder Carbine Action Air Rifle. Despite being told by seemingly every adult that he’ll shoot his eye out, nine-year-old Ralphie (Peter Billingsley) continues to pine for the BB gun while he and his family amble through a series of amusing incidents in the leadup to Christmas. Chock-full of scenes that have become part of holiday lore, from Ralphie’s dad’s infatuation with a sultry leg lamp to the immortal “triple dog dare” to lick a freezing flagpole, A Christmas Story has deservedly become a nostalgic yuletide staple.
Cast: Peter Billingsley, Melinda Dillon, Darren McGavin, Scott Schwartz
