I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER
JIM GILLESPIE | USA | 1997 | 101 MIN | R | ENGLISH
A long, long time ago, in the year of 1997 to be exact, the movie studio powers that be assembled an unprecedented cast of teen royalty never to be matched again in cinematic history in the 80s slasher-inspired I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER. As high school seniors toasting to their last summer of immature, adolescent decadence in the small town of Southport, North Carolina, legends Gellar, Hewitt, Phillippe and Prinze Jr. find themselves at a crossroads when they mistakenly run over a pedestrian and responsibly decide to hide the body. All is well until the guilty four begin to receive titular messages from the grave threatening not only exposure, but their lives! Famously written by SCREAM’S screenwriter Kevin Williamson, IKWYDLS hooked audiences with its unapologetic reverence for the genre while becoming a touchstone and parody-fodder for an explosion of questionably aged actors playing teens making bad decisions.
Cast: Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Geller, Ryan Phillippe, Freddie Prinze Jr.
