IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE – FOOD DRIVE

PFS is proud to sponsor a food drive benefiting Philabundance at the Philadelphia Film Center. Come see Frank Capra’s beloved Christmas classic IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE on the biggest screen in Center City and get into the charitable spirit of the season by donating a can good or non-perishable food item in lieu of paid admission. Philabundance donation bins will also be in the lobby of the Philadelphia Film Center the week leading up to the Food Drive screening.

Tickets for this event are FREE, a reservation to the event is required. Admission is on a first-come first-served basis. A donation of a non-perishable item off Philabundance’s list below is encouraged.

Philabundance is the region’s largest hunger relief organization, securing, rescuing and distributing food to help feed those in need and advocating for solutions to fight hunger. We use food and fund donations from the community to feed over 90,000 people every week!

IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE

FRANK CAPRA | USA | 1946 | 130 MIN | PG

A perennial holiday favorite that somehow never loses its heart-rending, inspirational power, IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE is the story of George Bailey (James Stewart), a young man with big ambitions who dreams of seeing the world. Over the years, we watch as George falls for his sweetheart Mary (Donna Reed), takes over the struggling family business, and faces off against greedy banker Mr. Potter (Lionel Barrymore), never managing to get out of the sleepy little town of Bedford Falls. After a series of devastating setbacks, George finds himself questioning the value of his own life. It takes a kind-hearted angel named Clarence (Henry Travers) to show George just how much his life has touched those around him.

Cast: James Stewart, Donna Reed, Lionel Barrymore, Henry Travers

“It’s one of those ageless movies, like ‘Casablanca’ or ‘The Third Man,’ that improves with age.” –Roger Ebert
