LOVE ACTUALLY

RICHARD CURTIS | UK, USA, FRANCE | 2003 | 135 MIN | R

All Throwback Thursday Quizzo & Movie Events are 21+ Only

This screening will feature live music 30 minutes prior to start time.

Featuring myriad subplots and seemingly every British actor working in 2003 (plus Laura Linney!), this perennial favorite is as festive and as densely packed as a holiday fruitcake. FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL and NOTTING HILL scribe Richard Curtis brings his trademark, typically English take on the romantic comedy to his directorial debut, which tells the intersecting stories of various characters grappling with joys and pains of love in the weeks leading up to Christmas. The all-star cast includes Hugh Grant as one of the most boyishly handsome and utterly unconvincing world leaders in cinema history, Keira Knightley as a lovely newlywed with a slightly stalker-y suitor, and the guy who played Mr. Bean (Rowan Atkinson). Thanks to its witty, twisty script and lovable performances, Love Actually manages to provoke plenty of laughs and (in the case of Emma Thompson’s tragic gift opening) total emotional devastation. To us, it is perfect.

Cast: Hugh Grant, Liam Neeson, Colin Firth, Laura Linney, Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Bill Nighy, Keira Knightley, Martine McCutcheon, Rowan Atkinson, Billy Bob Thornton, Thomas Sangster, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Martin Freeman

“A belly-flop into the sea of romantic comedy.” –Roger Ebert
