MY BEST FRIEND’S WEDDING

P.J. HOGAN | USA | 1997 | 105 MIN | PG-13 | ENGLISH

A romantic souffle of BFFs, sing-alongs, near misses, creme brulee and jello populate Julia Robert’s decadent and subversive 90s romantic comedy. Weeks before a life long best friend wedding pact between food critic Jules (Roberts) and sportswriter Michael (Dermot Mulroney) is destined to come to fruition, Michael drops the earth shattering bomb that he is engaged. The fiancee? Young, bubbly college student and daughter of White Sox owner, Kimmy (Cameron Diaz). With the nuptials and a life of perpetual bachelordom in her future, Jules will stop at nothing this side of Eric Clapton to stop her best friend’s wedding. Come for the infectious Roberts smile, but stay for one of the greatest dinner table music scenes, led by the great Rupert Everett, in film history.

Cast: Julia Roberts, Dermot Mulroney, Cameron Diaz, Rupert Everett

The Philadelphia Film Society presents Throwback Thursday Quizzo & Movie!

Do you like trivia, nostalgia films, and drinks? Then get your friends together to form an awesome Quizzo team (witty squad name required) and put your film and pop culture knowledge to the test at PFS’ monthly Quizzo & Movie!

Every First Thursday of the month, come out to the Philadelphia Film Center for a screening of a crowd-pleasing modern classic preceded by a few rounds Quizzo where all questions are about or inspired by that night’s movie. During the film, we will tally up the scores and reveal the winning team as the credits roll. The first-place team and runners-up will win prizes and bragging rights!
