Set in 1976, Tanya Hamilton’s debut feature follows former Black Panther Marcus (Anthony Mackie), who finds himself at a dangerous crossroads when he returns to his Philly neighborhood. Filmed in Philadelphia and scored by hometown heroes The Roots, NIGHT CATCHES US is an essential meditation on the complex relationship between political ideals and human emotions.

ReelBlack and the Philadelphia Film Society are excited to open Philadelphia’s only Drive-In with Force in Focus: the Black Experience on Film, a series that explores the world through the lens of the Black experience. Force in Focus will kick off with a curated lineup that showcases the work of modern Black female filmmakers, celebrating a collection of artists who have brought vibrancy and authenticity to the screen for decades.
