CHARTER
A desperate mother awaiting a custody ruling kidnaps her own children for a vacation, leaving their home country of Sweden to travel to the Canary Islands.
Ane Dahl Torp (THE WAVE, PFF24) delivers a tour de force performance as Alice, a divorced mom of two struggling to maintain her own sanity as she awaits the seemingly unfavorable outcome of a custody battle. Unable to see or speak to her children for the two months leading up to the verdict, Alice is shaken to her core when a tearful call comes in the middle of the night from her son. Overwhelmed with grief and paranoia, Alice covertly absconds with her children out of the country on an unauthorized getaway. While her young son Vincent (Troy Lundkvist) seems eager to embark with his mother, her teen daughter Elina (Tintin Poggats Sarri) is far more skeptical. Unexpected discoveries begin to spiral out of control, and the impending repercussions of Alice’s erratic behavior looms over their ostensibly happy vacation. From talented director Amanda Kernell (Sami Blood), Charter dives into the highly troubled but passionate psyche of a mother attempting to regain her family.
