HARLEY
In this bizarre character portrait, an eccentric, middle-aged criminal defense attorney attempts a quixotic quest to woo the love of his life by entering an MMA fight in Brazil.
If there were ever a contest for The Most Interesting Man in Paterson, New Jersey, Harley Breite would certainly be a contender. A principled criminal defense attorney by day, Harley takes pride in ensuring offenders accused of even the most unsavory and violent crimes receive due process. Though he has a lush mane of hair, golden tan, a Ferrari, a charity organization, and a home that he shares with his benevolent mother, Ina, the 51-year-old is missing one thing in his life: true love. But he hasn’t given up yet. After learning that the woman he pines for, a bodybuilder in Switzerland, has a boyfriend, Harley takes up mixed martial arts training in a last-ditch effort to win her heart and demolish his competition. With such an audacious, paradox-filled character at its center, director Jean-Cosme Delaloye’s HARLEY is a complicated and comedic entry into the pantheon of cinema’s greatest underdog stories. But unlike his hero Rocky Balboa, this one-of-a-kind renaissance man can not only fight, but he can also sing and dance.
