THE HEIST OF THE CENTURY
One of the most successful and crafty bank heists (and films) in Argentina’s history is made when a stoner savant and his eclectic team of pros ingeniously plan one last job.
Overflowing with style, hilarious banter, and a hip score, THE HEIST OF THE CENTURY exudes charm with panache as it navigates the formation and thrilling execution of a real life bank heist that occurred in Bueno Aires in 2006. Mastermind, and perpetually high for clarity’s sake, Fernando (Diego Peretti) is more enamored with the challenge than the immense riches promised when he assembles a team of professional thieves to rob a Banco Rio branch. It proves easy to get a getaway driver, muscle, and tech guru, but a flawless execution needs (besides a couple thousand dollar startup) a true star. Lifelong small time thief Mario (Guillermo Francella) may prove to be the one, if only he and Fernando could agree on anything. Though slick in execution like the immortalized heist films from Steven Soderbergh, THE HEIST OF THE CENTURY’s brilliantly captured plot proves to be more human, hilarious, and just plain fun. Any wish for Danny Ocean’s sharp, tailored suits will be quickly forgotten as Fernando and the gang get to work in Ariel Winograd’s immensely entertaining and riveting caper.
CAST: Guillermo Francella, Diego Peretti, Luis Luque, Pablo Rago
