THE KILLING OF TWO LOVERS
During a trial separation, a husband is a ticking time bomb as he desperately tries to keep his family — and self — together after discovering his wife is already seeing someone.
Led by an astounding, breakthrough performance by Clayne Crawford, Robert Machoian’s THE KILLING OF TWO LOVERS is an absolute marvel in execution that combines the naturalistic, languid life of a one-street town with the simmering suspense of a thriller. Local odd-job handyman David (Crawford) has amicably resigned to living in his sick father’s home down the road amidst a trial separation with his high school sweetheart wife, Niki (Sepideh Moafi). His reluctant consent allows him to still visit his four children while holding Niki to mandatory date nights in hopes of fixing their marriage. Forlorn and frayed, the conflicted David is devastated when he learns that there may be another man sharing his wife’s bed, leaving him with only one possible solution. Crawford completely embodies the complicated and lost David throughout Machoian’s tensely crafted scenes that are often saying a million things without one word. Each scene of Lovers threatens to explode as it dives deeper into a torn soul just trying to do the right thing.
