MANDIBLES
From the twisted mind of Quentin Dupieux, this oddball romp follows simple-minded friends who happen upon a gigantic fly and attempt to train it.
A hilarious mash-up of a buddy-comedy and road movie with a sci-fi twist, Mandibles is a wild, surreal film about friendship, dreaming big, and crashing down to earth. Like a French cross between DUMB AND DUMBER and THE BIG LEBOWSKI, albeit with an enhanced absurdist element that could only come from the mind of writer/director Quentin Dupieux (DEERSKIN, PFF28), MANDIBLES centers around the relationship between Manu (Grégoire Ludig) and Jean-Gab (David Marsais). After stealing a beat-up Mercedes in order to deliver a mysterious briefcase to an unknown recipient, the friends find more than they bargained for when they hear a strange noise coming from the trunk and decide to check it out. Finding a giant fly trapped inside, Manu and Jean-Gab decide to train it in the hope of making a ton of cash. Needless to say, things don’t go according to the duo’s hairbrained plan, and uproarious, unpredictable hijinks ensue.
