BEYOND THE INFINITE TWO MINUTES

Junta Yamaguchi | Japan | Japanese | 2021 | 70 MIN

A downtrodden cafe owner’s life is thrown into hilarious chaos for one night after he discovers a bizarre time loop that allows him to see two minutes into the future.

After closing up his cafe for the night, sullen shop owner Kato (Kazunori Tosa) heads to his upstairs apartment to unwind and play his guitar. While searching for his guitar pick, a man on his computer monitor starts talking to him. The man? It’s actually Kato, but from two minutes into the future. Utterly confused and convinced he is dreaming, Kato communicates with his future self, stationed back downstairs in the cafe. When present Kato returns to the cafe and is met by his past self on the store’s TV monitor, he is thrown into an insane, and incredibly limited, time loop. After Kato’s employee catches on and ropes in a group of goofy friends, the crew is soon running up and down between Kato’s apartment and the shop, trying their best to push the limits of their tiny window into the future. Shot on an iPhone on a bare-bones budget, this impressive one-take sci-fi gem is filled with hilarious and heartfelt moments as the charming cast of characters play with their own fates while the once-innocent two minute time loop spirals into riotous mayhem.

CAST: Kazunori Tosa, Aki Asakura, Gôta Ishida, Riko Fujitani
