JOCKEY
An aging jockey struggles to hold on for one last shot at reaching the winner’s circle in this award-winning festival favorite starring Clifton Collins Jr.
Jackson Silva (Clifton Collins Jr.) is nearing the end of his run. Years of hard riding and harder falls have taken a toll on his body, and no matter how much he tries to deny it, this season will be his last. As he works his way around the dusty circuit of regional race tracks, opportunity presents itself in the guise of a young, unproven mare that Jackson believes has what it takes to go all the way. At the same time, he meets a green but eager-to-please rookie jockey, who claims to be Jackson’s son. Filmed on location at racetracks throughout the heartland and Southwest, JOCKEY beautifully captures the drive and determination of hardworking jockeys, horse trainers, and stable hands—many of whom play themselves on screen—in vivid, lived-in images. The performances of these non-actors give the film an undeniable authenticity, beautifully supporting the rest of the cast, including Molly Parker, Moisés Arias, and Collins Jr., whose evocative portrayal of a man confronting his legacy on his own terms earned him a Special Jury Award for Best Actor at the Sundance Film Festival.
CAST: Clifton Collins Jr., Molly Parker, Moisés Arias, Logan Cormier
