CHOP & STEELE
Joe Pickett and Nick Prueher have been friends since they were kids, and have always been known by those close to them as having an extreme penchant for pranks. As the pair grew older, they formed their labor of love, The Found Footage Festival, which had them touring the country full-time with their hilarious and absurd cornucopia of forgotten VHS tapes. And their pranks never stopped. What started as cheeky childhood crank calls progressed to elaborate ruses that eventually landed them on local morning news programs. Pickett and Prueher found that the stations booking them did little to no verification on their stories, so they quickly took full advantage. One such prank led to a bitterly-duped media company suing the comedy duo and sending the two men down a rabbit hole of lawyers and lawsuits. CHOP & STEELE is at once a hilarious showcase of pranks, bits, and VHS gems, and a poignant look at the underdog fight against mainstream, mass-consumed comedy.
