Rémi (Gustav De Waele) and Léo (Eden Dambrine) are two inseparable 13-year-old boys. Living just minutes from each other, the two spend most of their free time riding their bikes and taking in the beautiful Belgian countryside. Their nights usually end in a sleepover, replete with giggles and tender bedtime stories. After schoolmates begin to question the true nature of the boys’ relationship, Léo distances himself from Rémi, throwing himself into extracurricular activities and other friendships. Struggling to understand and process this drastic shift, Rémi becomes unable to cope with the idea of losing his closest friend. When tragedy suddenly disrupts the friendship even further, nothing will ever be the same. With staggering performances from the young leads (both of whom are making their feature debut), Lukas Dhont’s follow-up to his breakthrough GIRL (PFF27) is a breathtaking and gut-wrenching coming-of-age film that makes a powerful, lasting impression.
