Ever-curious and observant donkey Eo takes to the road when he is separated from his beloved trainer Kasandra (Sandra Drzymalska) after their traveling circus is forced to disband. Taking the reins for the first time as he searches for a new place to call home, the mischievous Eo travels the countryside encountering the kindness of strangers and ending up in the most unexpected scenarios. Each new experience is gorgeously captured from Eo’s perspective, suggesting not only a soul behind the big brown eyes, but a rich life full of memories and maybe even dreams. As he continually witnesses humanity’s disdain for other creatures, Eo’s once-in-a-lifetime journey may prove his last. Skolimowski stuns audiences 60 years into his prolific career with a revelatory and unique work that captured the hearts of the Cannes Film Festival jury, who awarded it the much-deserved Jury Prize.
