Once a celebrated creative behind the outlandish machismo action films of the Filipino movie industry, retired screenwriter Leonor (Sheila Francisco) has settled into a sedentary life where paying the electric bill proves to be her greatest conflict. Her has-been movie star husband has left, one son is dead, and the other hounds her for money without any ounce of sympathy. When an accident leaves her in a coma, Leonor enters into the gun-toting and explosive world of her previously unfinished script. Yet this time she is in the director’s chair and has control to finally rewrite the ending to her life. With a clear love for the VHS bargain bins of video stores past, filmmaker Martika Ramirez Escobar creates a fantastical premise in her rousing debut that balances the absurd with a deeply resonating respect for a woman, her life, and her culture.
