MILLIE LIES LOW
On her way to a prestigious architecture internship in New York, New Zealand-based Millie (Ana Scotney) is overcome with anxiety and misses her flight. Rather than come clean to her mother, best friend, and boyfriend, Millie descends into a panic-driven spiral and employs carefully constructed social media posts and cleverly orchestrated Skype calls in an attempt to maintain the ruse that she did, in fact, make it to New York. Meanwhile, Millie desperately attempts to scrounge up enough money to buy another flight, narrowly dodging close encounters with her friends. As Millie goes further down the deceitful rabbit hole, her complicated narrative becomes harder to uphold in the face of mounting suspicions and unanswered phone calls from her new internship. Brimming with anxiety-ridden hilarity, MILLIE LIES LOW is a wonderfully fresh comedy, infused with genuine compassion for a deeply conflicted and lost woman who is desperate to find her place in the world.
