ONE FINE MORNING
Director Mia Hansen-Løve (THINGS TO COME, PFF25) and star Léa Seydoux bring grace and subtle emotional power to this story of a single mother juggling a new romance with personal tragedy. Professional translator Sandra (Seydoux) does everything she can to care for her beloved father Georg (Pascal Greggory), an eminent professor whose neurodegenerative illness has rendered him a shell of his former self. As she and her family undergo the difficult process of finding a suitable care facility for Georg, Sandra looks for solace in an affair with her married friend Clément (Melvil Poupaud, BROTHER AND SISTER). Caught between a passionate but tumultuous new relationship and the profound sadness of her father’s deterioration, Sandra must learn to find beauty even in moments of heartbreak. Hansen-Løve once again proves herself a master of delicately observed, naturalistic drama, and Seydoux delivers a soulful, career-best performance as a woman struggling to come to terms with life’s breathtaking unpredictability.
