PINK FLAMINGOS

John Waters | USA | English | 1972 | 93 MIN

This cult classic from underground hero John Waters marks a high (or is it low?) point in his storied collaboration with iconic drag queen Divine. Residing in a trailer outside Baltimore with the rest of her equally depraved clan, infamous criminal Divine delights in her designation as “the filthiest person alive.” Not to be outdone, Divine’s bitter rivals Raymond and Connie Marble (David Lochary and Mink Stole) undertake their own campaign to usurp her title. The ensuing war of deviant one-upmanship variously involves incest, cannibalism and a whole lot of egg-eating, all culminating in an infamous onscreen scatological act more impressively revolting than just about anything committed to film before or after. Still gleefully offensive 50 years after its release, this shocking and hilarious romp remains a liberating assault on good taste.

CAST: Divine, David Lochary, Mary Vivian Pearce
