SMOKING CAUSES COUGHING
From the bizarre mind of Quentin Dupieux (Deerskin, PFF28 and Mandibles, PFF29), comes his most farcical film yet. Benzene (Gilles Lellouche), Nicotine (Anaïs Demoustier), Methanol (Vincent Lacoste), Mercury (Jean-Pascal Zadi), and Ammonia (Oulaya Amamra) make up the members of The Tobacco Force, a superhero collective fighting perilous battles against oversized creatures that roam the Earth. After a disastrous encounter, their boss, a green goo-spewing casanova rat (voiced by Alain Chabat), sends them on a team-building retreat in a bunker in the woods outfitted with metal beds and a fridge with a grocery store behind its doors. To pass the time, the superheroes (and other unexpected participants) begin to tell the scariest stories they can think of around a crackling fire. But when they learn that the world will soon be destroyed, The Tobacco Force must once again band together, along with a malfunctioning and emotionless robot, to save Earth. Brimming with French starpower and delightfully morbid laughs, Smoking Causes Coughing is an absurd and unmissable gem.
