SUBTRACTION
Amid a days-long bout of rain in downtown Tehran, Farzaneh (Taraneh Alidoosti), pregnant and dour, sees who she believes is her husband boarding a bus in the middle of the day when he should be at work. Bewildered, Farzaneh follows him until he eventually makes his way to an apartment complex. When she later confronts her husband, Jalal (Navid Mohammadzadeh), it only leads to further confusion as he has a solid alibi. The couple soon finds out the shocking truth: They have found a married couple who they believe to be their doppelgangers. Identical to each other only physically, their counterparts Bita and Mohsen (again, Alidoosti and Mohammadzadeh) are equally shocked by the discovery. As the ramifications of their new reality set in, the lives of these four are spun into a twisty and dark series of events that result in chaos and tragedy. Equal parts riveting and confounding, Subtraction will keep you guessing until the very last scene.
