PFF SPRINGFEST: 892
ABI DAMARIS CORBIN | USA | ENGLISH | 2022 | 103
At the start of this pulse-pounding thriller, a man named Brian Easley (John Boyega) enters an Atlanta bank, announces that he has a bomb, and takes employees hostage. But it soon becomes clear that Easley isn’t a typical robber. A former U.S. Marine, Easley is determined to get the money he feels he was unfairly denied by Veterans Affairs and—perhaps more importantly—to have his story heard. Over the course of a tense standoff, more details of Easley’s tragic journey are revealed through flashbacks and interactions with law enforcement, press, and his family. Deftly directed and performed by a stellar cast, 892 features a career best performance from Boyega as well as one of the last onscreen performances by the late Michael K. Williams.
CAST: John Boyega, Michael Kenneth Williams, Nicole Beharie, Connie Britton
