PFF SPRINGFEST – THE TOMORROW MAN
NOBLE JONES | USA | ENGLISH | 2018 | 94 MIN
John Lithgow and Blythe Danner star as small-town singletons who must reconcile their eccentric passions in order to forge forward with their budding relationship in this charming romantic dramedy. The Tomorrow Man follows Ed (Lithgow), a single retiree who spends most of his days watching the news, dawdling around town, and peddling conspiracy theories to anyone who will listen. Ed is a proud doomsday prepper, but his intense fixation on the future has caused him to neglect his present circumstances. When he begins dating quirky Ronnie (Blythe Danner), it starts to look like the two oddballs could make an unexpectedly perfect match. But Ronnie carries her own fair share of baggage, which threatens to get in the way of the couple’s bright future. Bolstered by fine performances from screen veterans Lithgow and Danner, The Tomorrow Man is a delightfully idiosyncratic meditation on getting older and making the best of our turbulent times.
Cast: John Lithgow, Blythe Danner, Derek Cecil, Katie Aselton
