Fresh from a stint in prison, single mom Rose-Lynn (Jessie Buckley) is determined to get back to pursuing her dream of becoming a country singer. Fed up with the tiny country scene in Glasgow and thwarted by a court-ordered curfew, Rose-Lynn sets her sights on the bright lights of Nashville. But her exasperated mom Marion (Julie Walters) has other ideas, urging her wayward daughter to grow up and take responsibility for her two young children. Rose-Lynn gets a job as housekeeper for wealthy young mother Susannah (Sophie Okonedo), who soon becomes her biggest fan and patron. With her dream finally in sight, Rose-Lynn must find a way to reconcile her glitzy aspirations with her real-world responsibilities. This uplifting musical drama boasts a stellar soundtrack and an incandescent, star-making performance by the fiercely talented Buckley.
