PFF SpringFest: GOOD LUCK TO YOU, LEO GRANDE
CLOSING NIGHT
SOPHIE HYDE | UK | 2022 | 97 MIN | ENGLISH
After a lifetime of dissatisfying sex, recently widowed former schoolteacher Nancy Stokes (Emma Thompson) has decided that enough is enough. Renting a private room, Nancy employs the services of a suave sex worker who calls himself Leo Grande (Daryl McCormack). But things don’t go quite as smoothly as Nancy had hoped, leading to a fascinating, revealing series of interactions in which Nancy is forced to grapple with her own neuroses and inhibitions while Leo Grande attempts to maintain his cool professionalism. Screenwriter Katy Brand and director Sophie Hyde have crafted a razor-sharp exploration of contemporary intimacy, brought to life by nimble and moving performances from Thompson and McCormack.
Cast: Emma Thompson, Daryl McCormack
