PFF SpringFest: MONDOCANE
ALESSANDRO CELLI | ITALY | 2021 | 101 MIN | ITALIAN
In a near future in which environmental destruction has turned the Italian industrial city of Taranto into a toxic wasteland, 13-year-old orphans Pietro (Dennis Protopapa) and Christian (Giuliano Soprano) have no one to rely on but each other. Desperate for acceptance in one of the warring gangs that control the city, the boys gain entry into an underground group of petty criminals called The Ants, led by capricious, charismatic leader Hothead (Alessandro Borghi). The Ants terrorize the city’s more respectable residents while narrowly evading the police. In this violent, dog-eat-dog environment, the boys’ loyalty to one another is called into question as their friendship faces the ultimate test.
Cast: Alessandro Borghi, Dennis Protopapa, Giuliano Soprano, Ludovica Nasti
