PFF SpringFest: WATCHER

CHLOE OKUNO | USA | 2022 | 95 MIN | ENGLISH, ROMANIAN

After moving to Romania, American expat Julia (Maika Monroe) begins to notice a strange figure watching her from a nearby apartment. Her anxiety is only heightened when Julia begins to see the neighbor around the city. But as Julie becomes increasingly convinced that she’s being followed and that the stalker might be a notorious serial killer, she has to contend with the skepticism of her husband (Karl Glusman) and her own lingering self-doubt. Filmmaker Chloe Okuno expertly establishes a pervasive sense of unease in her feature directorial debut, keeping viewers on the edges of their seats and in a state of nail-biting uncertainty right up until the film’s explosive final moments.

Cast: Maika Monroe, Karl Glusman, Burn Gorman, Madalina Anea
