3rd Annual Lumière Celebration

The 3rd Annual Lumière Celebration

A Benefit for the Philadelphia Film Society

December 20, 2018

Join the Philadelphia Film Society for the 3rd annual presentation of the Lumière Award. The Lumière Award, named in honor of the first filmmakers Auguste and Louis Lumière, is given to those who have demonstrated a passion for the furtherance of filmmaking as a vital artform and growing industry in Philadelphia.  Past recipients include Director M. Night Shyamalan and Actor Bruce Willis.

This year, it is our pleasure to present the Lumière Award to the Academy Award® winner and Philadelphia native

Adam McKay

to honor his contribution to the legacy of filmmakers hailing from the City of Brotherly Love. With a career spanning over two decades, McKay has proven to be a comedic icon, having founded the Upright Citizens Brigade and racked up writing, producing and directing credits including Saturday Night Live, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Step Brothers, The Other Guys, and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. In more recent years, McKay has shown his incredible talent in the dramatic world with The Big Short, for which he won a Best Screenplay Oscar®, HBO’s Succession, and his newest film, Vice.

About the VICE Chairman’s Reception

New this year! Step to the front of the line and behind the scenes for the “VICE Chairman’s Reception,” where, in honor of our awardee and his new film, VICE, the Film Society’s VICE Chairman, Betsy Filton, will host an exclusive champagne reception as we toast to Adam and kick off the evening’s festivities. You’ll be there when Adam arrives and see him walk the red carpet and field questions from the media. And that’s not all, before joining the main event it’s your turn to walk the red carpet as our photographer takes a commemorative photo — which we’ll frame and send to you following the event.
