BRAD BIRD | USA | 2026 | 119 MIN | ENGLISH
From Academy Award–winning writer-director Brad Bird (The Incredibles, The Iron Giant), Ray Gunn is a highly stylized science fiction noir that blends a classic hard-boiled detective drama with dazzling spectacle and sharp humor.
Pitched by Bird as “The Maltese Falcon meets Buck Rogers,” and shelved since the 1990s as too daring for animation, Brad Bird’s ambitious new film is a retro-futuristic neo-noir mystery. Set in Metropia, a gigantic city in an alternate future as seen from 1939 where humans and aliens live in uneasy coexistence, the film centers on the titular detective Raymond Gunn (Sam Rockwell) and his alien partner Eyera (Tom Waits). Gunn takes a job that quickly entangles him with aliens, murder, and pop superstar Venus Nova (Scarlett Johansson), uncovering a conspiracy far bigger than one murder. Featuring an array of alien species and stunning action sequences, Ray Gunn is a thrilling ride into an intergalactic future.
Cast: Sam Rockwell, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Waits, Matt Berry
