PFF SpringFest – MR. FISH: CARTOONING FROM THE DEEP END
MR. FISH: CARTOONING FROM THE DEEP END
PABLO BRYANT | 2017 | USA | English | 70 MIN
This insightful documentary explores the career of Philly area-based political cartoonist Mr. Fish, an artist known for challenging propriety with his hilariously subversive brand of humor and gleefully shocking images satirizing politics, religion, and other American institutions. Director Pablo Bryant captures both the private and public sides of Mr. Fish as the artist balances his hellion persona with life as a relatively well-adjusted family man. Following Mr. Fish as he navigates the ever-shrinking world of print journalism while struggling to maintain his anti-establishment spirit, the film offers a revealing look at political cartooning in a time when having a singular, defiant viewpoint is more necessary than ever.
