INSTINCT

HALINA REIJN | NETHERLANDS | 2019 | 98 MIN | NR | DUTCH

Starring Carice van Houten (Game of Thrones), this taut Dutch drama follows Nicoline, a highly experienced and professional psychologist with a tough-as-nails exterior. When she is transferred to a new penal facility, she meets Idris (Marwan Kenzari, Aladdin), a serial rapist who, after five years of treatment, is preparing for his first unsupervised outing. Although he is broodingly handsome and outwardly confident, Nicoline sees through his ostensibly charming façade. As the two continue to work together as patient and therapist, the lines of professionalism blur and a cat-and-mouse game begins, putting Nicoline’s sanity and safety on the line.

Cast: Carice van Houten, Marwan Kenzari, Marie-Mae van Zuilen, Pieter Embrechts

“Intelligently sensational adult fare, crafted with paper-cut precision on all fronts.” –Variety
