Set in 1944 Fascist Spain, PAN’S LABYRINTH finds young heroine Ofelia at her step-father’s mountain outpost. While exploring, she stumbles upon a stone labyrinth and an ages-old faun, who tells her she bears the soul of the Underground Realm’s lost princess. Surrounded by conflict and living in the shadow of her vicious step-father, Ofelia tries to care for her pregnant mother. However, the human world grows harsher each day and Ofelia becomes determined to escape. A masterpiece from director Guillermo del Toro, PAN’S LABYRINTH infuses a cruel world with magic in a vivid fable about innocence in times of war.
Cast: Ivana Baquero, Ariadna Gil, Sergi López, Doug Jones
“Pan’s Labyrinth is one of the greatest of all fantasy films, even though it is anchored so firmly in the reality of war.” – Rogert Ebert
