TRIUMPH: ROCK & ROLL MACHINE
Explosions in high school gyms and amps that might as well go up to 11 are just the beginning for Canadian hard rock legends Triumph, a trio that once ruled the music industry and remains a cult favorite.
The rock doc is a cinematic genre in itself, often filled with testimonials of sex, drugs, and eventual atonement. Yet in Sam Dunn and Marc Ricciardelli’s joyous and invigorating TRIUMPH: ROCK & ROLL MACHINE, the directors have captured the pure, unbridled spirit of rock and roll that drove Toronto trio Triumph to conquer the music world with positivity. Modest and polite—they are Canadian after all—the members of Triumph literally unbox decades worth of memories of their late-70s and 80s heyday. An act that once sold out arenas across the United States for years, Triumph rarely receives mention on lists of the decade’s greats, yet their connection with their audience has remained strong. The film captures the passion exuded by Triumph’s diehard fans, as the first-ever fan event brings fanatics from all over the world together to share their own experiences with the music. Filled with passionate testimonials from members of Skid Row, Styx, and more, Triumph gives the band the rightful spotlight and acts as a reminder that you can never have too many explosions.
