BUCKY F*CKING DENT
It’s 1978, and divorced aspiring writer Ted (Logan Marshall-Green) has little but an unsold, 756-page manuscript and an impressive set of mutton chops to his name. When he finds out that his estranged dad Marty (David Duchovny) is losing his battle against lung cancer, Ted gives up his not-so-lucrative career hawking peanuts at Yankee Stadium and goes to stay with his old man in the New Jersey suburbs. Initially driven as much by a crush on Marty’s “death specialist” (aka nurse) Mariana (Stephanie Beatriz) as by familial concern, Ted becomes a cautiously committed caretaker. When he notices that his dad’s health miraculously improves whenever his favorite baseball team is doing well, Ted concocts a plan to convince Marty that the Red Sox are having a winning season. But Ted can only keep the truth at bay for so long. Full of delightfully foul-mouthed father-son patter and acerbic observations on baseball, death, and everything in between, BUCKY F*CKING DENT is a hilarious and scrappily profound tale of forgiveness and reconciliation.
