GOODBYE JULIA
Mona (Eiman Yousif) and Julia (Siran Riak) are two women from vastly different worlds. Despite the prickly confines of her marriage, Mona, an Arab woman, relishes the safety of her social status, while the Southern Sudanese Julia struggles with her family under the debilitating weight of oppression. There’s no universe where their paths should cross, but a life-shattering curveball disrupts the world as they know it. A split-second moment of cowardice and bigotry brings their lives together, leaving blood on Mona’s hands. There’s only one way she can make it right, and, with guilt as her compass, Mona welcomes the widowed Julia and her young son into her home against her racist husband’s wishes. Each act of kindness brings the two women closer, and their evolving companionship allows for immense growth as Mona rediscovers an old passion and Julia returns to school and eventually finds love. However, everything that begins must also end, and the sins of the past resurface, jeopardizing a friendship built on a terribly tragic lie.
