PHILLY LOVES BOWIE – THE SIGMA KIDS
ANTHONY CRUPI | USA | 2019 | 98 MIN | NR
During David Bowie’s recording of YOUNG AMERICANS in 1974, passionate fans camped outside of Sigma Sound Studios hoping to catch a glimpse of the young artist. This documentary explores the influence and inspiration these admirers, known as the Sigma Kids, had on Bowie once he opened the studio doors and invited them inside to become a part of recording history. Using interviews with the Kids, and Philadelphia music influencers like DJ Jerry Blavat, DJ Robert Drake, Bruce Graham and Bowie’s guitarist and band leader Carlos Alomar, THE SIGMA KIDS shares memories, moments and an inside look into Bowie’s creative process while exploring the bond he forged with Philadelphia that lasted his career.
