PFF SpringFest: FLUX GOURMET
PETER STRICKLAND | UK, USA, HUNGARY | 2022 | 111 MIN | ENGLISH, GREEK
At her country estate, wealthy aesthete Jan Stevens (Gwendoline Christie) runs the prestigious Sonic Catering Institute, where she offers coveted residencies to “culinary collectives.” These performance artists create challenging, intoxicating sensory experiences using food and cookware as their instruments. Greek writer Stones (Makis Papadimitriou) is tasked with documenting the work of these collectives, though his intensifying gastrointestinal problems prevent him from partaking in the orgiastic culinary events. Meanwhile, the latest trio at the Institute begins to fall apart due to their own internal tensions. With his latest cinematic oddity, genre-defying auteur Peter Strickland (THE DUKE OF BURGUNDY, PFF23) has crafted an unforgettable audiovisual feast suffused with his trademark wit reminiscent of the work of Yorgos Lanthimos.
Cast: Asa Butterfield, Gwendoline Christie, Ariane Labed, Fatma Mohamed
